microchip technology inc. on tuesday announced the launch of its expanded portfolio of automotive solutions, which includes a new family of radiation-tolerant microcontrollers designed to meet the rigorous requirements of space and aerospace applications.
the company also unveiled a new ecosystem of products and services that are both autosar compliant and iso 26262 ready. according to microchip, this new product line and ecosystem will simplify automotive design and reduce development time.
in addition to the radiation-tolerant microcontrollers, microchip is launching a new infotainment connectivity and security solution which aims to streamline the development of next-generation in-vehicle infotainment systems. the new solution is based on the company's existing chipset and is capable of supporting multiple wireless technologies such as wi-fi, bluetooth, and ethernet.
microchip's new gateway solution offers a single, integrated platform that can manage multiple communication protocols across different vehicle systems. this means that developers will be able to build complex systems more efficiently and at a lower cost.
another key component of microchip's new automotive ecosystem is its sam family of arm-based microcontrollers. these processors are designed to handle everything from low-power sensor control to high-performance automotive applications. the sam famil is also iso 26262 compliant, making them ideal for safety-critical functions.
other products in microchip's expanded automotive portfolio include advanced power-management ics, touch-screen controllers, and lin transceivers.
speaking about the launch, microchip's vice president of marketing for automotive, matthias kaestner, said: microchip continues to invest in new and innovative solutions for the automotive industry. with our expanded portfolio of microcontrollers, connectivity solutions, and other products, we are helping to drive the evolution of the automobile and make it safer, more efficient, and more connected than ever before.
